Living in rural Devon, walking, observing and recording the shapes and patterns of the natural world rewards me with daily inspiration.
I gather ideas in sketchbooks as a myriad of small studies which then find their way into my compositions.
I enjoy the challenging process of drawing with a resist line, followed by the application of French steam fixed dyes, leaving no room for error and giving an air of spontaneity to the pictures.

Susan Paradise

I like to paint a variety of subjects rather than specialise. I enjoy setting up a still life/interior in my studio and also painting portraits particularly people from the 1930s to 1950s, capturing a moment where people are enjoying themselves on the beach or elsewhere. Alison Summerfield

I have always been involved in the arts from launching an Art magazine to sourcing artworks for private homes and businesses. In more recent years I began to concentrate on my own painting. Working mainly in oils and revelling in the physical and instinctive process of working with the paint, using knife and brush.
